It's there alright, but not seen?

Thanks, Martha. Not sure what you mean by inspect, but I added the code you provided and, sure enough, using the test you provided suggests there's nothing there....

If not (doc.HasItem("ShortName")) then MessageBox ("Not there")

I get the "Not there" prompt. BUT... the ShortName field attributes on the doc I am running this on are:

Field Name: ShortName
Data Type: Text List
Data Length: 70 bytes
Seq Num: 28
Dup Item ID: 0
Field Flags: SUMMARY PROTECTED

"HickeyNA"
"Noel.Hickey@acme.com"
"Noel.Hickey@domino.acme.com"

Any ideas why the script isn't recognizing the contents of the field would be much appreciated!
